A Tutorial on IEEE 802.11ax High Efficiency WLANs Is Published in Top-rated IEEE Communications Surveys and Tutorials

A Tutorial on IEEE 802.11ax High Efficiency WLANs by Evgeny Khorov, Anton Kiryanov, Andrey Lyakhov and Giuseppe Bianchi is published online (open access) in the top-rated IEEE Communications Surveys and Tutorials journal with JCR Impact Factor of 20.230 (2017).

The tutorial provides a thorough review of a hype future protocol which will soon replace the current flagman Wi-Fi version – 802.11ac. The tutorial discusses and evaluates the main new features of 802.11ax, including OFDMA operation, scheduling, power and sensitivity threshold management. It raises open issues and formulates optimization problems.

Previously, the authors of the tutorial participated in the standardization process and made several proposals for the new standard (including virtual carrier sense, trigger usage, fairness and coexistence with legacy devices). They designed several algorithms for the efficient operation of the new devices.

In different time, the work in IEEE 802 LAN/MAN Standard Committee has been supported by a US industrial partner and Russian Science Foundation.
